Tomorrow Can Be Different...

With the global financial crisis hitting hard, St Vincent de Paul wanted to give those in need a chance to speak for themselves. The result was the collaborative journal ‘Today I Am’. Responding to the question ‘What does today mean to you?’, the homeless, disadvantaged and dispossessed could tell the world what living below the poverty line in Australia really felt like.Individual entries became part of an online, print, TV and radio appeal with the line ‘Tomorrow Can Be Different’. The journal also became a national exhibition and a permanent part of all six state library collections. Donations reached a record high, up 20% on the previous year.
