D&AD North

D&AD North was launched in March 2006. Through the Northern network – D&AD’s first outside of London – we aim to ensure that the creative community in the North of England receives the support, recognition and profile it deserves.

The Northern programme reflects and appeals to the broad spectrum of creative disciplines represented by D&AD, and is designed to involve creative practitioners as well as students who aspire to work in the creative sector. The programme involves a number of significant events, including D&AD President’s Lectures, Professional Development ‘Workout’ sessions, Advertising and Design Workshops and Awards screenings.

One of the undoubted highlights of the Northern programme is our exhibition, D&AD: The Best Advertising and Design in the World, at Urbis in Manchester. The first of its kind, the exhibition presents highlights of the nominated and winning entries from the D&AD Awards, featuring hundreds of the most outstanding and original works.

D&AD’s North Committee is a panel of some of the UK’s leading creative practitioners. The Committee is chaired by Ben Casey of The Chase, and includes Alistair Sim of Love, Pollyanna Clayton-Stamm of Urbis, Brendan Dawes of magneticNorth, Neil Lancaster of McCann Erickson, and Liverpool-based director Mitch Walker. Richard Scholey of Elmwood and Mike Black of Brahm, both based in Leeds, also sit on the Committee.

As we grow the programme, we are also growing the D&AD membership base in the north of England and beyond, and it’s clear that the increasing number of events and new member benefits in the north have made membership all the more appealing and relevant.
